Tips for Entertaining the Kids this Summer

Summer is the best occasion for togetherness while the children are out of school. It can get expensive taking them to theme parks, water parks, and fun centers, especially if you’re on a tight budget. If you are in a similar situation as many Americans are, don’t fret, since there are scores of inexpensive things you can do right at home. These fun things to do are ideal for children under 10 years old. Most of these suggestions are focused around learning activities combined.

Everyday Household Items Can Be Used In Your Games

Use everyday items in your play around the house as props for your pretend news stories. A fun activity to do at home is to play hospital. Have the kids gather a stuffed animal or other toy and then use things from around the house that can serve as make-believe doctor’s tools. Most houses are chock full of odd and ends that can be made into medical instruments. You can also do another variation of this game by pretending to run a television studio where the news is being reported. A stuffed animal or other toys can be used as part of the creative storylines that you and your child are describing to the pretend listeners.

Enjoy a Pretend African Outdoor Experience

A game that is particularly entertaining is to pretend that you’re on a safari trip in your living room. Gather some extra large sheets and fasten the ends into chairs, the sofa, or any strong fixture in the room. Wrap the sheets so that thechildren feel like they are hiding in a canopy forest or in the thick brush where the wild critters can’t see them. If you have a pair of binoculars, take them out to enhance the game. Have your kids gather all of the stuffed critters and animal figures they can find and distribute them throughout the room, mostly hiding from view, and then use the binoculars to peek on them. Once the kids find each animal, shout out the sound that the animal makes. They always have a blast with this game!

Get Outside and Have Fun

A very budget-friendly, yet really active thing to do is to go out as a family for a ride on mountain bikes. If you have younger children, you can include them in a trailer attachment where they can sit in an enclosed seat. For shorter distances, some younger ones might want to use their scooter to get through the ride. To make it even more fun, take your time and call out different items for them to spot while you’re out, like a treasure hunt. Things like birds, flowers, or squirrels can all be great things for everyone to call out as they discover them. This game also works wonderfully on a nature walk and can help kids learn about nature and their environment.

Nighttime Family Fun

When night falls, the fun doesn’t have to be finished! Raise a tent in the back of your house along with binoculars for star gazing. If you have a fire pit or a small charcoal barbeque, you can make a wood-burning fire for them. Have the kids find some tree branches for browning marshmallows. If you have time to take a short getaway this summer, go camping at a local lake or beach and extend your time outside! These suggestions will surely give you and your little ones some much-deserved entertainment, family time, and creativity.

Save Up To 49% On All Minolta Camera Accessories!

One of the elements that I like about my new Dimage Minolta digital camera is the abundance of Minolta camera accessories that they have.

Since purchasing my Minolta camera I have also gotten a few of the extras for my new camera. In this article I’m going to give my opinion on the Minolta camera accessories that I have bought, and I will show you where you can obtain Minolta camera accessories saving up to 49 per-cent off the regular price.

Lens Adapter for Konica Minolta Dimage:

This is a simple metal lens adaptor, it becomes the job done and it is just right for the lens barrel, so it won’t be discovered in any of your pictures. This is a must to improve the pictures of your Z camera with filters.

Opetka HD2 Filter Kit:

This Minolta camera accessories kit includes a wonderful tiny storage bag that stores all of the filters. I found the case helpful, but it isn’t precisely the best thing for your filters if you want to keep them clean. I typically keep the tiny filter pouch in my bigger camera bag with my lens wrapped with protective tissue so that I can be sure that they are clean when I use them.

The FL-D filter is not only good for fluorescent light levels, but it also adds a soft effect to footage with any light. The Fluorecent filter even makes tungsten lighting look chrisper indoors. If you plan to use this with a digital, you may want to white balance before applying this filter.

The UV filter has an identical effect as any other UV filter and the polarizer does a great job in bright situations also.

Opteka 70″ Full Size pro photograph / Video Tripod:

There were a number of tripods in the Minolta camera accessories line that I gazed at prior to obtaining this one. What caused me to buy this one was how well built it looked. Upon arrival, I was satisfied to say that the photos of the product stayed true. The tripod is robust and can be changed in a variety of ways to change the height and angles. The way the legs locks into place makes it simple to set the tripod up on uneven terrain. This is a big plus, as I wasn’t interested in just using the tripod inside.

Digital Camera Accessories: Select Them Like A Pro

The digital camera is one of the most common pieces of consumer electronics nowadays. From pros with high-end SLR cameras to kiddies with picture-phones, everyone has them. But few people realize the importance and potential of digital camera accessories, which are not only for experts but also for beginners.

Accessories are not only for pros, a small but versatile set should be part of the photography equipment of anyone with but a passing interest in the subject matter.

The digital camera accessories available today as tools make the camera a better choice for us to invest in them especially if this becomes a hobby or a profession. Regardless of whether you prefer a compact camera or a more advanced SLR model, the digital camera accessories that you will use along with it will be of paramount importance.

There are various types of digital camera accessories available that will be of use right from the start, or that you may need in the future to improve the quality and flexibility of your photography. Some of the digital camera accessories that should be part of your arsenal include the following:

A camera bag is one of the most ubiquitous camera accessories, and few people will walk out of an electronics shop with their new digital camera without also having purchased a corresponding bag. The bag allows you to carry your equipment around as well as to store any extras that you may need on your photo-taking adventures.

There are lots of different kinds of camera bags, both general purpose and specialized. While you could of course use any old bag to keep your camera, bespoke ones offer better security and are more ergonomic.

Of all the digital camera accessories, perhaps the camera tripod of the most useful - it reduces camera shake and therefore the likelihood of a blurred picture, especially in low light conditions, and allows you to take pics from unusual angles. Tripods may seem bulky at first, but bear in mind that a great majority of tripods are either foldable or retractable and should be able to fit in most of the medium size to larger camera bags.

When you buy a tripod, you should definitely make sure that the camera attachment fits your brand, as that’s not always the case. Steadier shots and a better result make the camera tripod the most important digital camera accessory for many photographers.

The next most useful kind of digital camera accessories are probably those who prolong your picture-taking. Both extra batteries and storage cards fall into these categories. Batteries allow you to take pictures for longer without recharging the camera and are fundamental in faraway locales, while extra storage cards are great for sports photography, when you will need to take a whole lot of pictures.

Canon Digital Rebel XSi - Review

Regarded as an entry level camera, the Canon Digital Rebel XSi which measures 5.2 x 2.4 x 3.9 inches and weighs 16.8 ounces is available in two different styles. Consumers have the choice of either a silver casing or a plain black casing.

While one certainly cannot argue that the camera has a good grip, some people to feel the casing looks cheap. Of course, others argue that this is simply because of the smooth surface looking as though it’s been made from plastic. Overall, the camera doesn’t feel quite as comfortable in your hands when compared to the vast majority of other cameras. It is also worth noting that previous Canon digital cameras never had the same 3 inch screen as this model. You’ll also notice that the controls are situated on the right hand side of the screen.

Judging from reports, most consumers seem to be at the with the playback images and also the click of the buttons. While a higher resolution sensor has made it possible for quality playback images, some people complain that there is some delay when using the zoom feature.

You are able to see up, down and side of the screen without any problem. Even when the Canon is held nearly upright for a shot overhead it remains clear. The viewing angle is approximately 160 to 170 degrees. It is the same for vertical and horizontal.

Even though the image quality equation is nothing spectacular, the kit lens is considerably lightweight and needs considering it’s a stabilized lens. Additionally, the rear screen makes it easy to adjust settings and although it doesn’t have a top screen like previous models, it does have a detached status screen on the main screen. Furthermore, ISO value is continuously displayed in the viewfinder.

While most users would agree that the color reproduction and macros are excellent and that the camera is incredibly fast, some users tend to feel that the camera has difficulty with regards to auto-focus. It seems that the biggest complaint is that the camera is often unable to select the correct point of focus. However, total for accuracy is almost impossible when one utilizes the center focus. Unfortunately though, the end result often remains the same, in that photos come out fuzzy. Of course, not all users seem to have this complaint.

Of course, one also needs to take into consideration that some consumers may very well be under the wrong impression in that they believe that the “live view” allows for them to utilize the camera in the same way as they you would utilize a regular point and shoot digital camera. Instead, the “live view” feature still requires an even surface or a tripod. To Then again, some people have mentioned that using either of the two “live view” modes tends to be to draw out with regards to hand held shots.

Even though the camera does have room for improvement, the fact remains, it is an adequate camera none the less and in the majority of cases, buyers have been happy with the quality and also the features. Furthermore, it appears that many people are also very happy with the ergonomics of the Canon Digital Rebel XSi.

Bivvy Sacks - Waterproof and Water-Resistant Sacks

The bivvy sack is as simple as outdoor shelters get. If you can handle being in a confined space it’s a good substitute for a heavy dome tent. You can lie in the warmth of your sleeping bag and watch the stars or get a full view of sunrise in the morning without have to get out of the bivvy. With a bivvy, you can arrive at camp, crawl in, and go to sleep.

Weatherproof Bivvy Sack

A stormproof bivvy is one that is that can prevent water from entering from the outside. It is suitable for use in bad weather as a standalone shelter. Water can get inside a bivvy either through the fabrics, the seams or the opening of the sack.

Gore-Tex is commonly used as a waterproof/breathable fabric in stormproof bivvies. To prevent condensation, fabrics in stormproof bivvies need to allow vapor from perspiration to escape to prevent condensation.

The floor of these waterproof bivvies are made of waterproof fabrics as well but not necessarily breathable. Silicone-coated nylon is typically used for the floor. It functions to keep out water from seeping in through the floor fabric from the ground. It’s important for the floor to able to maintain its waterproof properties so it has to be durable as well.

A stormproof bivvy would also have sealed seams and waterproof closures to be sure that no water can leak in.

Water Resistant Bivvy

If a bivvy sack does not have a waterproof fabric, sealed seams or stormproof closure it is only considered as water-resistant. Sometimes water-resistant bivvies are better than stormproof bivvies.

The obvious advantage for a water-resistant bivvy is that they’re much because of the lack of waterproof features like the seam sealings and waterproof closure. Waterproof fabrics add a little bit of weight as well.

Another advantage of water-resistant bivvies is that they tend to be less prone to condensation because the fabric used is much more breathable. The type of fabric used removes vapors very quickly before it has the chance to condensate.

Combined with a tarp, this type of bivvy works very well. This may mean you have to carry some extra weight but only a small amount of tarp is required and you may not have to worry about condensation so much.

Advanced fabric technology still cannot eliminate the risk of condensation inside a bivvy sack but one day it probably will. Condensation occurs when a warm body in a confined space is mixed with cold temperatures outside. Places inside the bivvy sack where there is a lack of ventilation or body heat is where condensation is likely to occur. The risk is increased when the weather is humid but if there is good ventilation it is less likely to occur.

Minolta Camera Accessories … Savings Up To 49%

One of the things that I love about my new Dimage Minolta digital camera is the wealth of Minolta camera accessories that’s available to choose from.

Since buying my Minolta camera I’ve also bought some of the extras for my new camera. Below I’m going to give my opinion on the Minolta camera accessories that I have purchased, and I am going to show you where you can obtain Minolta camera accessories with a discount up to 49% off the full price.

Lens Adapter for Konica Minolta Dimage:

This is a common metal lens adaptor, it becomes the job done and it is just right for the lens barrel, so it won’t be seen in any of your pics. This is a necesity to improve the pictures of your Z camera with filters.

Opetka HD2 Filter Kit:

This Minolta camera accessories kit comes with a great little storage bag that protects all of the filters. I found the case helpful, but it’s not exactly the neatest thing for your filters if you want to keep them dust free. I customarily keep the tiny filter storage bag in my bigger camera case with lens tissues so I can keep my filters and lens clean.

The FL-D filter is not only fine for fluorescent light situations, but it also adds a warming effect to photos under any light. The Fluorecent filter even makes tungsten lighting look clearer indoors. If you are planning on using this with a digital, you may wish to white balance before applying this kind of filter.

The UV filter has an identical effect as any other Ultra Violet filter and the polarizer does a good job in bright situations too.

Opteka 70″ Full Size professional photograph / Video Tripod:

There were a number of tripods in the Minolta camera accessories line that I gazed at before getting this one. What made me get this tripod was how sturdy it looked. Upon arrival, I was happy to say that the footage of the product stayed true. The tripod is strong and can be adjusted in a range of ways to change the height and angles. The way the legs lock makes it easy to setup on unlevel ground. This is a big plus, as I was not wanting to just use it within.

Before Buying The Minolta Dimage Camera … Please Read this Review!

I investigated at length before I took possession of my Minolta Dimage camera. I studied each pro and shopper review I saw. I compared quality, sizes, costs, ratings, everything. I look at the cameras in stores and on the web.

After getting all of that data I finally decided on the Minolta Dimage Camera 5 megapixel. After operating the camera on a near daily basis for a few months now I am cheerful to claim that I made the best selection.

Earlier I owned the HP photosmart 935 5.3 mega-pixel which takes superb photographs, but it’s was reasonably slow and it devoured batteries. Also it is a more average sized camera. I wanted to continue using that camera for the more crucial, planned photos and special shots like July 4th fireworks and such. But I wanted a 2nd camera that was as tiny as possible, quick and easy to use, with an enormous LCD display. I also needed it to take great photographs without costing me a mint.

I could not be happier with the Minolta Dimage camera. It is even smaller and more slender than it appears in photographs, but the LCD is large with very chrisp pictures. It’s so fast at powering up that I am able to turn it on and off repeatedly to save its battery life, but I don’t actually need to because it battery last such a long time.

The sliding lens cover / power switch works wonderful and it prevents the camera from turning on in your pocket, bag or case. And it doesn’t have a bothersome telescoping lens to worry about and the zoom is wonderful.

The Minolta Dimage camera has every function and photograph option that regular camera users would need with truly easy to use buttons and menus. The buttons and lenses are all so perfectly placed that I never smear my screen or stick my finger in front of the lens. It is sturdy and manifestly well made.

I carry it in my handbag every day in a super slim case without a single problem. I am taking so many more shots now than I ever did before. The photographs made with my Minolta Dimage camera are so beautiful, clear and crisp. Most of the tiny cameras have problems with fuzzy pictures because they are more difficult to hold still. Unless you are jumping or shaking excessively for some strange reason, fuzzy pictures aren’t a problem with the Minolta Dimage camera.

I adore this camera. I would DEFINITELY endorse getting it to anyone!
