Campground Guides

You searched for a good campground over the internet and of course the pictures will definitely look great. Too bad there are some details that they miss to include on their website like that busy railroad tracks 40 feet away or the ‘playground under construction’ sign. Experts have actually given some tips when choosing a campground that your family will love and enjoy.

‘Word of mouth’ is always the best reference. Friends who camp or visit a camping store in the area to get staff member’s advice are good sources of information. Do not hesitate to call the ranger station and start asking questions like the acitivities that they offer or the number of families that go to their facility. Do you need to buy a 4 person tent or can you go ahead and set up individual tents if the space allows it?

You can also check out books written by people who have camped there. You have to be keen on getting the most recent edition to check out camp reviews otherwise you wouldn’t want to get a book that was dated 10 years ago and get shocked when you arrive at the location and see that everything totally changed.

Once you have found your perfect spot, then you can think of buying that 4 man tent that you have always been eyeing on. You also need to look on to their bathroom and shower amenities that the campsite offers as well as information on electrical and water hook up. Private campgrounds usually have cable and sewer hook ups which are nice if you plan to stay longer. Some campgrounds and private chains may be a bit pricy but you get your money’s worth because the quality is consistent and the site is clean. That is what matters the most, especially when you are looking after your children’s safety and health.
