Things To Keep In Mind When You Buy Digital Cameras

Today, there are many choices when you buy digital cameras. They range everywhere from a simple point and shoot camera to the DSLR. The right choice will depend on your use for the camera. You will find that there are many very affordable models that give great shots.

A few years ago, the biggest challenge was to get the camera with the most megapixels. A pixel is a dot on the computer screen. The more pixels the camera has, the finer the resolution of the picture. Today, practically all cameras have at least ten megapixels resolution. That is ten million dots for each photo you shoot and adequate for the most sophisticated digital photographer.

Just as they did when first introduced in film cameras, point and shoot cameras make great quick snapshots. For most users, these shots are adequate for prints as well as for e-mailing to family or friends. There is no need to focus a lens or change several dials using this camera.

The camera that is just above a point and shoot model will offer zoom capabilities. These cameras are also easy enough to use. They allow you to bring your subject closer with the push of a button. You can also accomplish a zoom on the computer after the shot is finished with any camera, but may lose some resolution.

A DSLR operates much like the SLR cameras of the past. The greatest difference is that photos are on digital media rather than on film. The camera may accept different lenses and allow you to shoot in an automatic or a manual mode.

Buy digital cameras for great pictures. You can sort your shots on the computer and delete those that do not meet your expectations. In addition, you are able to edit your pictures. When ready for prints, you can make them at home or send them out for photo processing. The photos you take can be easily shared using e-mail as well.

Reasons You Should Buy Digital Cameras

So you want to take that giant leap and purchase a new camera that your family can use on family trips, sporting events, or wherever else you might find it useful? By now you probably know which store you are going to buy digital cameras from, but do you know which type of camera you are going to buy? Digital is probably the way to go for a number of reasons including the following:

1. Unmatched Picture Quality

Digital cameras of today are so technologically advanced that it’s ridiculous! The quality of pictures that you get from the new SLRs is simply amazing and I don’t know why anyone would want to purchase anything different that this type of camera. The resolution of the pictures that are taken by SLR digital cameras is really worth every penny that you pay.

2. You Don’t Have To Be A Professional To Use Them

Let’s get this straight once and for all, you don’t have to be a professional photography in order to have one of these cameras because they are quite easy to use. Yes it’s true that all of the different switches and buttons can seem confusing in the beginning. You don’t have to use them if you don’t want to because digital cameras have an automatic setting that pretty much does everything for you.

3. Pictures That Last

Finally, one of the other more important reasons that digital cameras have become more popular over recent years is because the images that are captured can be stored in digital format. This means that they can be preserved virtually forever. You won’t ever have to worry about fading pictures when you use digital imaging. This kind of capability simply wasn’t available back in the earlier days and unfortunately a lot of pictures were lost over the years due to fading and other issues of that sort. So the question is why wouldn’t you go digital?

Digital Camera Pixels

Canon new lenses are also exceptional. Canon’s Digital Rebel was a market success, and the company’s new Rebel XT is also hitting good reviews. The previous camera was 6.3 megapixels, the new one is 8.0 and it’s a little smaller as well.

ISO settings run from ISO 100 to ISO 1600, with an additional level called Hi 1, which is about equivalent to ISO 3200. For white balance, you can rely on auto, or chose Fluorescent, Direct Sunlight, Flash, Cloudy, and Shade presets, or use a white or gray card to manually set a white balance level.

Capture NX is designed to appeal to a broad range of consumers. Users with compact digital cameras such as Nikon’s COOLPIX series will enjoy the simplicity of using U Point technology to quickly enhance their JPEG pictures, eliminate any red-eye using the Automatic Red-Eye Correction tool and even resurrect underexposed images with the software’s D-Lighting feature.

But while that might appeal to the small handed and nimble, the XT’s compressed, lightweight, and slightly chintzy-feeling frame will be a hindrance to others who prefer a solid grip and a balanced camera body–particularly if they’re using a lens any heavier than the mediocre 18mm-to-55mm f/3.5-to-f/5.6 unit included in the kit.

Autofocus can be continuous when the LCD is on or single autofocus is activated by a half press of the shutter release. Focusing can also be performed manually in which case the distance is indicated on both LCDs and can be visually confirmed on the color LCD with the peaking function. Auto focus gets me frustrated at times. It is also a bit heavy after a long day.

On some models, this readout may also be viewed on the LCD screen. Digital SLR cameras are the tool of choice among the majority of professional photographers but some people have found them to be complex or bulky. With the D40x, consumers dont have to sacrifice the quality of their pictures anymore.

Digital Camera Buying Tips

If you have walked into a Walmart or Target recently you may have seen the hundreds of digital cameras on the shelves. The ones that usually catch your eye are the cameras that are low priced. Especially in an economy like this, practical people want to save money, but buying a digital camera is not all about the price.

Because of the digital camera boom that happened in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, there have been a plethora of camera brands that have marketed new cameras. Alot of these new companies boast low priced cameras with some neat little features, but don’t get lured by the price.

The brands that have passed the test of time are brands like Canon and Nikon. These cameras have always been more expensive but it’s because you truly get what you pay for. The neat thing is that these two brands have transitioned to the digital world beautifully and still have the best digital cameras on the planet.

Why are Canon and Nikon a better camera brand? Have you ever held a Kodak SLR and then held a Nikon SLR? You will FEEL the difference immediately. The Nikon just feels like a more serious camera as it is heaver due to the higher quality construction. Nikon and Canon also boast large high quality lenses that are interchangeable and can really give a photographer complete control.

Resolution and color capture should be the biggest things that determine if a camera is high quality or not. Nikon and Canon are masters of this as you can see with picture comparisons of other camera brands.

Although the prices are higher, you will be way more satisfied with a digital SLR camera made by Nikon or Canon. These cameras will last a lot longer without breaking, and will produce the high quality pictures that will last a life time.
