Samsung’s new digital camera, DIGIMAX S1000 is one of my new favorites. For amateur photographers looking for Facebook-style photos, this one requires no focusing. Ahead of its class, the DIGIMAX S1000 comes with a 10.1 mega pixel image. It also offers a customizable “color effect”, “highlight” and “photo frame” feature. This is a great camera for the MySpace, Facebook, backyard photographer who is somewhat knowledgeable in digital photography.

Toshiba Digital Cameras: Toshiba cameras are traditionally of very good quality, with excellent memory capacity. If you’re annoyed each time you run out of memory, get a Toshiba with an SD card and that shouldn’t be a problem. Manufacturers Olympus and Fujifilm are finally deciding to phase out their line of xD flash memory cards after years of customer complaints, unacceptable compatibility issues and the onslaught of the more efficient SD memory card technology. You can chose from two resolutions in movie mode. The first is probably recognisable by most people these days, its called VGA and the size 640 x 480 pixels. The second is called QVGA and sized at 320 x 240 pixels. Let me just explain these sizes a bit more. VGA stands for Video Graphics Array and is a well known term for a computer monitor with a 640 * 480 resolution. Most computer monitors these days have a much higher resolution.

QVGA stands for Quarter Video Graphics Array and is sometimes also called Quarter VGA, QVGA, or qVGA. The resolution of qVGA is 320 * 240 and these types of displays (computer monitors) are found on mobile phones, PDAs and other types of hand held devices. It’s called QVGA because it offers 1/4 of the 640 480 resolution. The VGA standard was first developed by IBM.
