Digital Camera Intelligence For The Non Scientific Minded.

There is heaps of information that exists in the world regarding digital cameras. What they are and do, and most importantly which is the top one for my family. Sure you can contribute endless time on web pages grinding over one web page after another, but who has the drive to do that?

Taking pictures is not my profession and I am not a master at it. However I do love to take pictures and capture all the family memories that I can. I also enjoy helping others and making it easy for them to learn about things that can be very complicated. Sure you can go out and just pick up the first camera that a salesmen points out without understanding what it does or how to use it, but is that honestly the best choice?

Lets take a look at some of the typical technical terms that you are likely to encounter in your mission for a digital camera. There is no getting around the fact that the main stat that is talked about will be megapixels. This simply refers to how many small individual dots a photo will have. The more the better but don’t forget that megapixels will make your images look better, especially when blown up to a giant size. However if your digital camera is suffering in other specs such as poor zoom, focus, or flash technology all the megapixels in the world will not make your pictures look awesome.

Now that we have megapixels down lets discuss zoom. Zoom is your cameras ability to take objects that are far away and make them appear closer. There exists more than one type of zoom and they are utterly different. Your camera’s optical zoom rating is the real deal zoom, how far out your camera can extend without losing picture quality. Zoom rating of 2x for example, would mean the lens on your camera should make targets look up to twice as close as they really are. The Other zoom is named digital zoom and is a little neat to have but not really worth all that much since it is simulated with software and the more digital zoom you use the uglier your picture will turn out. So optical zoom awesome, digital zoom okay when used in small doses.

Flash time. Your flash is pretty simple, it is an artificial light that goes off before the shutter on your camera so you can see dark targets. Not much to discuss on flashes as they are not talked about much, just make sure the camera you are considering has a good flash rating and good light detection software in it. Most digital cameras that you will find have an auto detection system used most of the time instead of you manually switching the flash on and off. Poor software can drive you mad and make your pictures look either way too dark or too bright.

We have gotten the end of the basics that you require when researching about digital cameras. You now have an idea what people will be talking to you about and what to expect in your new digital camera. You can buy your camera either in a store or through an online vendor, I suggest websites as they usually have better deals and sales. Remember that when using your digital camera you need to have fun and enjoy what your doing not just waste all your time worrying about taking every picture you can.

Author Mark Debias is dedicated to providing people free digital camera information and guidance. Be sure to swing in and look at some of his camera recommendations.

Why You Should Embrace Black and White Digital Photography

It’s interesting how sometimes older technologies or art forms take on an even greater value when they are made obsolete by the new and modern. This is certainly true of black and white photography. When color photography came on the scene, it seemed the days of black and white in both video and photography were over forever.

You can experiment with black and white and gather the responses of friends and family to learn how to utilize the subtle but powerful artistic nuances that seem to come with black and white photography almost unconsciously. The digital camera has ushered in a whole new era of black and white photography. So if you are evolving your artistic photography style and portfolio, including some experimentation with black and white will do a lot to improve your work.

You see the form used even in otherwise non artistic settings like wedding portfolios or anniversary pictures. That is because of that emotional and romantic power that black and white conveys. So if you are evolving your artistic photography style and portfolio, including some experimentation with black and white will do a lot to improve your work.

Black and white also focuses the eye on the emotional center of the piece. Probably the best subject for black and white photography is the human face. In even a tranquil expression, the viewer can see such a vast range of expression in the eyes, the tilt of the head, the subtle wrinkles or peculiarities of the face and the focus of the gaze.

Black and white pictures will be scary in some instances, but you will be able to use it like you would color. You will learn how to use the film to help others pay attention to the finer details like the shapes and lines. This will also help with the contrast in very dark areas. That is something that all photographers wish to get accustomed to. Once you do get accustomed to it you will feel great pride and great joy in the B&W pictures that you snap You will learn to love it.

Digital Cameras - Wildlife and Landscape Photography - Catching The Animals By Surprise

Landscape photography is widely popular. I am sure if you look around your home you will see at least two landscape prints that spoke to you. Photography is an art that has a message. As a photographer you have to find the message you want to portray. If you specialize in landscape photography you might think your task is easy to complete. As with any photography you have to pay attention to the details, the lighting, shadows, subject, and the equipment.

Black and white landscape photography is the hardest section to attain true artistry because you are not relying on the colors as much as the lights and shadows the image will create. Composition is very important. Composition in photography means to look for sharp edges, tones and textures. The basis of black and white photography is getting the camera to see what your eye sees in color; to bring the highlights and shadows forward with the angle of the picture. Typical subjects for black and white photography are buildings and water.

When landscape photography is your subject in color you will need to have contrast between the colors. If the sky is blue and you have blue water below chances are the picture is not going to have the contrast you are hoping for. Like black and white photography you need to have definition or composition in the shot. You will need to take a few minutes to set up the shot and perhaps take several frames before being satisfied. Color photography takes less skill than black and white photography so if you have master the last you will succeed at the first.

You will also want to think about color and tones. Most people look for spectacular colors of nature to make their photograph beautiful. You will want to use color to give the pictures added sparkle, however you will also want to learn to use the colors to enhance and not distract you from the lines of the pictures. In fact, if they are too intense, try simplifying things but cutting out color completely-shoot in black and white.

If you are choosing a larger subject such as a deer or bear you will want to stay far enough away to get the shot, and not draw attention to yourself. Bears are dangerous creatures, but they can be photographed if you use common sense and don’t tread upon their territory. Wildlife photography and thus the photographers have a code of ethics when attaining the perfect shots. Wildlife photography is a waiting game for the perfect picture to sprint across your viewfinder. It takes patience and a lot of practice, but the reward of having a family member or friend go, ” where did you get that photograph? I have got to have one,” will sweeten the deal.

Getting Cheap Canvas Printing Deals With Digital Printing Technology

If you have ever searched around for pictures for your home, then you will know how shocking it is when you see the price tag attached to good quality prints nowadays. Well, thanks to recent advancements in printing technology there is now a more personal and affordable option. Cheap photo on canvas prints made from photos that you have taken yourself.

Why buy over-the-counter, standard, mass-produced images on canvas to hang on the walls of your home when you can now purchase cheap, unique, personalised canvas prints that make far superior looking pictures, tailored specially to your taste and at a third of the price? But don’t be fooled. Just because these prints are cheap, it doesn’t mean they look cheap. The materials used to make them can range in quality from very good to very poor, but provided you buy prints from a company with a good reputation and not a low quality manufacturer, the canvas print should have a look which is perceived as much more expensive than it actually was.

As digital cameras are now capable of taking photographs at such high-resolution, we can now take photographs ourselves that could have only have been taken by a professional photographer 10 years ago. This opens up a whole new opportunity for us all to step away from the mainstream manufactured prints and surround ourselves with high-resolution images of our own personal experiences instead. With 10 megapixel cameras now the standard, that breathtaking sunset image that could once only be seen on a shop wall with a hefty price tag, can now be created cheaply as a one-of-a-kind piece of art, especially for you.

There is cost considerations too to take into account. Since the setup process is shorter, it employs fewer materials so the initial canvas print would cost significantly less than it would if it were printed through offset. For offset printing, majority of the expense goes to the setup cost while ink and stock are the main dictators of the final cost of a digital print. In effect, you pay a flat rate for digital printing. For offset printing, the high cost of the first print is distributed with the succeeding canvas prints.

There are two other features of digital printing that make it possible for you to get cheap canvas printing deals. There are occasions wherein you need only a few printouts, especially with large format ones. So it is convenient and inexpensive if you will not be obliged to order more than you need and hence, pay more than what your budget would allow. Digital printing and short run prints go hand in hand. You can order between one to a hundred canvas prints at affordable rates.

Print on demand (POD) is a special feature of digital printing that lets you print as needed which gives you flexibility in ordering. This means that you don’t need to have every copy printed at once, especially if you have limited budget and you don’t need them all immediately. If you sum up cheap canvas printing plus digital printing advantage: it’s equal to getting good value for your money.

It’s the special touches, fonts, and sentiment that will separate your digital postcard from the rest. Digital Posters Discount It is a good thing that there are ways to get cheap canvas printing deals even for small quantities. Once you have a great photo it is time to go online.

Digital Photography and Weddings - Using Digital Cameras For Wedding Pictorials

When people get sentimental, they usually flip albums and look at the pictures that depict the things that happened in their lives. These pictures are not simply pieces of colored papers with images for they can trigger deeply-seated emotions. Emotions vary depending on the memories attached to these images seen and preserved.

Today, people are more dependent on their computers than ever before. With computers, they can easily upload their wedding pictures and share them with family and friends all over the world. You do not have to rely on snail mails just to send your pictures. They are being sent and viewed the minute you have them in your computer.

If you want to take a picture of a couple or any intended target, make sure that the background is good and the environment is not so crowded. If there is a nice background but it is hard to focus on the couple, you may shoot them from shoulder up. If some of the guests are wearing glasses, they can be advised to stand tilt their heads a little down or sideways to avoid the glaring effect that normally appears when the flash is used.

Glasses tend to cause reflections in photos. May it be an eyeglass, window or wine glasses. One way or another, they will cause a reflection or brightness to reflect back on the camera it is included in the picture. To avoid this, the position of the camera can be altered so that it will not directly hit the glass. The photo can be taken sideways or downwards but never on eye level.

Persons being photographed should not always be looking at the camera. And they do not have to be smiling at the lens too. One way of doing it is to wait for the right moment so that you can have a candid shot at them. You will see that catching persons on film when they are in their candid state is much better than having them wearing a fixed expression. Candid moments make photos look real and natural.

Keep a copy of your best works so you can use and reuse the techniques that made your viewers smile and appreciate your creation more. You can do this by saving albums on your personal computer to free up the space in your memory card. You may also use other software to enhance the quality of the prints to be made. Photography is truly a wonderful art. Wedding is a wonderful event. The union of these things will trigger emotions and memories in the long run more so if images are captured and preserved well. They all depend on your camera and your love for this art and the couple.

There are several different things to take into consideration when selecting a digital camera. But an informed decision is a wise decision. From personal experience I can tell you the D3100 from Nikon is the best. To learn more about the D3100 click on one of those links.

Facts About Digital Cameras - What to Look for When Choosing Your First camera For Digital Photography

The central part of a DV camcorder is the CCD, or Charge Coupled Device. This sensor creates a video picture by recording the light intensity to recognize an image or shape, along with the color levels to reproduce a full color picture. There are several tape based DV camcorders that have both color eyepiece viewfinders and a flip out TFT LCD screen to view the action as well as the previous recorded footage.

A CCD and CMOS sensor works the same way at first, by converting the light electrical charges into photosites. Simply put it is to think that a digital camera works in such a way as thinking that the millions of tiny solar cells, each of which forms a part of the whole image.

Since the images that a digital camera capture are in electronic form, it is a language recognized by computers. This language is called pixels, tiny colored dots represented by ones and zeros that make up the picture that you just took. Just like any conventional camera, a digital camera is furnished with a series of lenses that focus the light and creates the image that you want to capture.

If you’re a photo freak, be sure that you have enough memory in your camera to take all the wacky, freaky, funny and just about any photo you can. Think 512MB if you”re a photo junkie and takes pictures of just about anything.

Most of the latest cameras allow you to capture digital still images onto a removable flash memory card. The most popular media is SD or MMC, but Sony and Samsung cameras often capture to a memory stick.

If your video camera doesn’t offer still image capabilities, you can always perform a capture of the screen in your editing program. Always remember that the image resolution when capturing a still this way will always be 640X480, which is actually less than 1 MB, or Mega Byte.
