Digital Photography

Filed under Digital Camera

You might want to consider using digital photography to make some extra money. The fact of the matter is that digital photography is the fastest growing hobby. With a little know-how and some creativity, you can turn your hobby into a money-making business. There are several different ways that you can use your camera to make money.

All it takes is a little imagination, a flair for showmanship, a bit of salesmanship and the willingness to do some work - and you are set.

If you are a digital photography hobbyist, the chances are good that you already have the equipment you need to get started. Things you will need are a digital camera, preferably one with similar features of an SLR film camera, a high-quality printer or printing service, and a good tripod.

Digital photo editing software is also a must have. Adobe products like Photoshop CS3, Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0, and Adobe Photoshop Light room are among the best digital image editing software applications on the market, along with Corel Paint Shop Pro X.

If possible, you should invest a couple hundred dollars in marketing materials.

Before we move onto some of the next steps you have to understand one misconception. Many people think that it is not possible to make money taking pictures this day. They explain that almost every person has a digital camera or a camera phone. I can hear you saying, “Why would people pay for pictures when they can take their own?”

You can do it this way. The fact of the matter is that everyone has some sort of camera. But how competent are they at using it?

You might want to take a look at how many pictures individuals take. Let’s be honest. They’re horrible. Amateur photos often have motion blur, bad color or lighting, or subjects that are positioned awkwardly. There are no composition skills. They do not know how to avoid things like shadows over their subjects faces. Even if these people understood how to use digital photo editing software properly, many of their pictures are beyond help. There is only so much you can do to correct a poor photograph.

Plus, when the average Joe attempts to print their photos, things can go awry. I am sure that you have seen some of these horrible images. The prints have bad, splotchy resolution. The person taking the photograph had no understanding of the camera settings that ensure pictures suitable for printing.

This is excellent news for you. With your excellent digital photography skills, you can easily show prospective customers a few samples that will get them signing on the dotted line.

Are you still apprehensive? Recently, I attended a friend’s birthday party. The host paid an amateur photograph who wanted to start their own business just like you.

Almost everyone at the party brought their own digital cameras - but once the party got rolling, who remembered to take pictures? And those shots that we did take were unplanned and poorly positioned.

The photographer received payment for her services. Two days later, she uploaded her photographs to a web site. The party guests were sent an email with a link to the page. Guests could then download, print, or save to disk any photos they wanted.

The photographer didn’t even have the expense and work of printing and delivering photos - but was paid generously for her services.

How cool is that? You could to it, huh? Develop your photography skills, get a marketing plan and say Cheese!

Digital Photography - A Review of the User Friendly Nikon D3100 DSLR Digital Camera

Filed under Digital Camera

At one point DSLR cameras were unnecessary for people who just took pictures of people, places or things when it necessitated pics. A less costly SLR was more than suited for their needs and the less they had to spend, the better. Unfortunately it doesn’t take too long to see the constraints of those devices if the condition for taking pictures is not perfect. You can always take your chances and hope you luck out but chances are you’ll end up with a disappointing low quality camera.

Hoping to change people’s minds about the need for a DSLR camera, Nikon released the D3100. Basically, they’re betting and hoping people will pay a higher price for a camera that is high quality and easy to use. For the most part they’re relying on the 14.2 megapixels and HD video option to boost sales. A camera can look great but that never matters. It’s how well it functions and what it does that mean anything in the long run. I’ve seen and used cameras that looked great but when it came to performing, they were terrible.

It seems that every tech enthusiast needs to own the latest gadget on the market the second it comes it out. They always hope it will live up to their expectations. The iPhone 4 is a great example of this. So many people went out any bought it and got all the problems that came along with it Were people thinking about potential problems with the device? No, of course they weren’t. A couple things are proven here. People will shell out money for the best and people are impulsive.

I would say the D3100 is a great camera for those who would consider themselves an amateur photographer. I’m certainly not a professional photographer and I had no problems recording videos or taking pictures. Whether it’s a good camera for professional photographers isn’t something I personally can say. As an amateur photographer I am more than happy with the D3100.

The price tag might be a bit much for some people and is certainly the major limitation of the camera. If you’re not someone who is a stickler for the highest possible quality then this isn’t the camera for you. If you are the type who wants to take pictures in many different conditions and under many different circumstances then this may be a worthwhile investment for you.

Jim Howser writes for many niche consumer electronics websites on many different topics. Also, he’s a freelance writer and a consultant. He has written extensively about a D3100. Visit his blog on this subject at D3100 DOT NET.

Digital Cameras - Choosing the Best Printers, Lenses and Filters For Digital Photography

Filed under Digital Camera

Just having a camera is not going to get you the best pictures. Most of us who take photos are amateurs in the art world, but with the right equipment our photography can be elevated to a new height. Lenses are important especially when you settle on a medium you will train in. Most photographers choose one area of photography to specialize in.

Lets talk about filters that blur a photograph. When you are taking a picture of a waterfall at the bottom where the water rises in a cloud you can add a filter to create the cloud in the picture. Cameras don’t always see what the eye sees. In some cases it can have a high resolution to depict the actual water drops rather than the cloud, so adding a filter to your lens can help create the effect your eye sees.

Other filters such as the UV protector guard against the harsh rays. Along with the UV filter you should have a polarizer. The polarizer is used in photography when you are taking a shot into direct sunlight or other light. It will help balance out the photograph so that you don’t get the washed out look. Other filters can give you the washed out effect if you feel your photography would speak more.

Some people go by the looks when they are choosing a digital photography printer. Because of this, many companies today hire top-notch artists and designers. People want equipment that looks good. They want to buy a digital photography printer that lets them express themselves through its sleekness and overall appearance.

Photography in the world of panorama is another way to take spectacular landscape photos. The panoramic lens allows you to widen the photograph, especially with a digital camera. If there is a mountain range or glacier that you wish to get the whole picture without pasting them together in Photoshop the panoramic lens is the best way to go.

The use of filters in photography not only allows you to have special effects in a photograph to create something new and different, but it can help enhance the shot by adding color or dampening the natural effects of light. Photography has many types of equipment that require skill and knowledge making it a wonderful hobby or profession. If you need a hobby, photography allows you to be creative.

There are many things to take into account when choosing a digital camera. But an informed choice is a wise choice. From my own personal experience I can tell you the D3100 From my own Nikon is top quality. To learn more about the D3100 click on one of those links.

Digital Photography - An Introduction to Digital Camera Parts

Filed under Digital Camera

Every year, more and more cameras are being produced by different camera manufacturers. They differ in design, features and a lot more which makes buying a new digital camera confusing especially for the non-techie. Don’t fret, though. We have provided you with a list of some things you have to look out for when buying a digital camera. Read them below.

How many megapixels do you really need? More advanced cameras come packed with more pixels. But before shelling out tons of money for that gazillion megapixel camera, keep in mind that there are other factors that have to be considered when buying a camera. Besides, a study showed that people, even experts, cannot see the difference between the prints of pictures taken by 5 and 10-megapixel cameras.

After the shot is taken, the photographer can immediately see and decide if he does or doesn’t like the result of his shot. This method is much cheaper than film because when using film, one has to print all the photographs taken including the duds which can’t be seen until they are processed. Another reason why people prefer digital photographs than traditional ones is that there are a variety of ways in sharing a digital photograph. One can send it through it e-mail, burn it to a disc, send it via Bluetooth or print it just like film photographs.

How much memory do you need? Are you the type of person who prefers to store your images on your camera instead of your computer? If that’s the case, then you need to buy a memory with a larger capacity for your camera. It’s also the case if you’re a professional photographer using a digital SLR since cameras of this type use up more memory to store high-quality pictures.

If you’re simply looking to take portraits in a more comfortable setting, then you may be able to get buy with a point and shoot digital camera which is perfectly capable of fulfilling this need with high quality pictures. If you’re looking for more professional looking pictures, then you’ll need to upgrade to a SLR or DSLR digital camera which offer a lot of different features that can be used in taking pictures. Some of these features include panoramic or wide angle lenses, high power zoom, high resolution factors, and much more. These types of cameras are typically purchased by those that are getting into the photography business in some form or fashion.

There are several different things to take into consideration before buying a digital camera. But an informed decision is a wise decision. From my own personal experience I can tell you the D3100 From my own Nikon is the best. To learn more about the D3100 click on one of those links.

Tips For Buying Consumer Electronics - Digital Camera Buying Guide For the Casual Photographer

Filed under Digital Camera

If you are going to buy your first digital camera, you will want to research your purchase so that you don’t end up being clueless on things like megapixels or what is the best storage for you. The salesperson will try to gang up on you and give you a lot of options, but you don’t want to get confused. You will want to be prepared so that they don’t intimidate you. You will find that when you do a little bit of research before you go to buy a camera, you will be able to save some time and help yourself out a lot.

For a general rule, you will find that digital cameras are a lot cheaper online or at chain department stores, because they have access to supplies. However, in either of those places, you will not get the service or knowledge of a real photography professional, so it might be worth your money to explore some of the nearby specialty camera shops in your neighborhood. At the specialty shops, you will be able to find that the salesman and people who own the shops know a lot about the products and will be more than willing to help you learn the ropes too.

In specialty stores, as in department stores and other places where cameras are sold, the merchandise is usually kept in a locked case. You will want to take the time to ask some question and see all of the cameras that you are interested in or that you can afford within the budget that you have set. You can compare stats such as photo quality and features on a sheet, but without holding the camera and testing it out, you will not be able to tell if it is a good fit for you.

For those who aren’t using a digital camera for professional purposes, then you don’t really take about the quality of the camera compared to the price. You will want to think about going with a lower resolution so that you can save some money. You will want to decide what is important to you before you go to the store.

There happens to be more other things that you will want to consider, however, you should learn about how to buy a digital camera, before you go and purchase one. You don’t want to buy one on impulse. It is very important to understand the quality that you are getting and how it relates to the budget. You will want to have a clear budget so that you can make a good and solid purchase.

There are many things to take into account when selecting a digital camera. But an informed decision is a wise decision. From personal experience I can tell you the D3100 from Nikon is the best. To learn more about the D3100 click on one of those links.

Digital Cameras and Consumer Electronics - The Greatness Of Digital Photography

Filed under Digital Camera

Computers and cellular phones, mobility and microchips ? these are the trademarks of the world today. We live in a world continually changed by technology. Even the arts have continually changed due to technology. Think of it: from charcoal drawings to painting to photography to digital photography, we have come a long way in the visual arts. We have used various methods in capturing life and freezing time. New technology is continually being developed to make art easier and more fun. However, you should know that the art of digital photography is not as simple as aim and shoot.

This is nowhere more true than photography. For decades the film and chemical processing method has undergone continual refinement to achieve higher and higher levels of sophistication and to find higher levels of quality. Small wonder that when the digital revolution came along, ‘the purists” were, to say the least, a bit snobby about the idea of professional photography moving in this direction.

There are many advantages why you should turn to digital when you want a picture-perfect shot. Digital photography offers you many options on how you want your pictures to appear. You have the choice to print only the good photos that you have and edit out those that you don’t like. You’re also able to steer clear of bad images such as blurry prints and those that easily fade. This way you can save a bundle on printing only those pictures that are pleasing to the eye. You can even upload the images and share it with your loved ones. There are so many options that are available.

Talent ? of course, you need a bit of inherent talent in order to be truly great at the art of digital photography. You need to have an eye for the subjects that would make a great photograph. Otherwise, you will only end up being mediocre in a field that requires greatness. Of course, the proper training can actually enhance your inherent talent and help you sharpen your skills in the art of digital photography.

Digital photography, being a child of the internet and the digital revolution that has swept our lives via personal computers, can be delivered in a myriad of ways and at a speed that was unheard of prior to the arrival of this technology. We can deliver the photos via email, by posting them to an online gallery or by burning them to a DVD or CD so the customer can order lots more shots for the same cost and have them delivered in a way that easy to view and store.

If you’re looking for some good resources about digital photography, digital imaging services and reviews, there are lots of them online. By searching online, you can find a wide display of samples of digital images and see how digital photography can fix the quality of your photos. There are vast arrays of information that you can get. The majority of them offer samples of digital images, digital camera buyer’s guide, latest digital camera reviews and a lot more.

There are several different things to take into consideration when choosing a digital camera. But an informed choice is a wise choice. From personal experience I can tell you the D3100 from Nikon is a winner. To learn more about the D3100 click on one of those links.

Discover How To Produce Amazing Pictures Utilizing Digital Photo Printing

Filed under Digital Camera

You’ve mastered the art of digital photography and have thousands of digital photos just lying in your 1-terrabyte hard drive. Should you just be content with having your works of art lie in suspended animation forever? It’s time you put more elbow grease into your hobby and start seeing your work on print. Digital photo prints need not only be fillers for your family album or scrapbook; you can enlarge them, frame them, and hang them on your walls; or you can even use them for greeting cards or calendars you can give to friends.

A lot of models of digital photo printers also work without the need to be connected to a PC. With these models, you have to check whether your camera’s memory card is compatible with the media slot built into the printer. You can also look at your digital camera’s propriety cable, typically bundled with your camera, and see if it is connectible to the digital photo printer.

Digital photo printers use two main types of printing technology: dye sublimation and inkjet. Printers using dye sublimation use heat to vaporize and set the dye onto the photo paper’s glossy side; this dye penetrates the surface to produce the photograph. Inkjet printers, on the other hand, use tiny drops of ink to dot the sheet. The inkjet kind of printers is more popular because they are usually multifunctional, with the ability to scan, copy and print not only photographs but also text documents. For more specific photo printing needs, however, it is recommended to use dye sublimation printers because they are optimized for printing photographs with vivid and realistic colors.

Another thing to look for when you are on the hunt for the perfect digital photo printers is the ability to print in higher resolutions. Dye sublimation printers can print 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution, and inkjet printers can print 1200 to 9600 dpi. Now, you would think that inkjet printers would print better pictures, but remember that the two types are different– a print using dye sublimation in 300 dpi would be the same quality as a 4800 dpi print using inkjet.

When considering any of these items you might also wish to consider having a photo book made up of your collection of photos. These are gifts with a difference that are totally unique and often the more you order the cheaper they become. The range of books are typically huge from the very small that fit in the pocket to the large premium hard cover books that are an excellent choice when it comes to holiday or wedding photos. As you can see there are numerous choices for gifts and special occasions along with your everyday shots for your personal photo albums. Finding free digital printing is not hard and of course you have the option of becoming a member of more than one online photo printing company and taking them up on their offer of free prints.

Online printing services are a great way for businesses and other organizations to save a lot of money. Digital printing has profoundly affected photography and also paved the way for new technologies, products and markets. Most digital cameras save the folded images in JPEG format on the camera’s memory card. Digital Photo Printing Review

Are You Looking To Buy A Digital Camera On Sale?

Filed under Digital Camera

I’ve wanted to buy a digital camera for awhile now but was too confused with all the choices. I was looking for the best digital camera under $200. Finally decided to do some research for myself and figure out which one satisfied my needs. Because there are many good cameras available, it took some time to discover the one with the best features. I wasn’t very familiar with all the new features so I learned a lot about digital cameras in my research. I finally decided that the Canon PowerShot SD 1300IS was my best choice.

What to Look for When Buying a Digital Camera

Being a novice - I soon discovered there are several terms I had to research to understand the importance of the features of a digital camera. Here’s a few:

* Wide-angle lens, 4x optical zoom

* Optical Image Stabilizer

* Smart Auto Mode

* 12.1 MP

* LCD Screen

* ISO

If you just buy a camera based on price alone, you probably won’t have the features you’d like to have when it comes to taking great pictures. So stick with me as I explain what those letters and features all mean in relation to the Canon PowerShot SD1300IS camera.

Why Wide Angle Lens?

You have several ways to use a wide angle lens. First, it gives you the ability to fit a very large view, like a colorful autumn forest, all in one picture. You aren’t focusing on each individual tree but the overall beauty of the forest. With the added zoom feature, you can push the background away and pull the beauty of one red maple tree’s leaves into the picture. It is like having the ability to focus wide at the entire landscape and also zoom in to have the brilliant color of one branch of leaves. The Canon PowerShot has a 28mm wide-angle lens with a 4x optical zoom giving you the ability to get razor sharp pictures with life-like color. You can capture the forest and a squirrel scampering up the tree.

What is an Optical Image Stabilizer?

This feature was made just for me. Well, maybe not, but it is most definitely necessary for me — to take crisp, sharp pictures every time. Almost by magic, but really from research and technology, an Optical Image Stabilizer automatically detects and corrects camera shake. Now, camera shake is when I’m not holding the camera still and my pictures come out fuzzy or blurry. The Canon technology makes it possible to have perfect pictures either with a flash or without, zoomed in or far away.

Smart Auto Mode-My Favorite

There are many pages of instructions in a camera manual. Even after reading them several times, I still was at a loss as to which setting to use. Lucky for me there is the smart auto mode, eliminating the guess work and giving me the freedom to focus upon where to point my camera. This advanced technology is able to analyze the shooting conditions, too much light, not enough light and automatically selects the optimum picture taking mode. There are 18 different choices and I’m very happy to use a camera that is smarter than I am. The Canon Advanced technology gives you the ability to take photos of flowers, close-up and then capture the beauty of the sunset, for remarkable pictures.

What is a Pixel and Do We Have Enough?

Pixels are little dots. That’s what pictures are made up of–little dots. PICture ELement=Pixel. When you have enough pixels, you have a picture. A camera needs many pixels to give you the ability to enlarge a picture and have it look great. With the PowerShot SD1300IS, you have 12.1 Megapixel high-resolution which gives you the ability to enlarge your favorite family photo up to 13×19 inches. The quality is great and you can display them with pride.

What Am I Looking At?

The screen on a digital camera is an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen. Look for one that is durable, has anti-reflective coating and is scratch-resistant. Having a Night Display makes it very easy to view in low lighting. The Canon PowerShot has all these features plus a bright, clear 2.7 inch screen. Canon’s Pure Color System will give you great color, resolution and contrast even if you are looking at the screen from an angle.

ISO

More letters to decipher. Digital cameras have image sensors, they do not use film anymore. The ISO numbers will tell you just how sensitive the image sensor is to the lighting you have available. I remember purchasing different speeds of film for my 35mm camera. Never had the right speed film in the camera at the right time. The ISO and digital technology will give you all the different speeds all the time. You can have fantastic pictures taken in dimly lit places. Your camera will automatically change the ISO for you. It is important to have high ISO numbers to get the best results. There are some ‘entry-level’ cameras that have only one ISO, usually 64 or 100. The Canon PowerShot camera has an ISO of 400-6400 in its low light mode. Plenty of choices. Take your picture beside a campfire, street light or by candle light, you’ll have a picture you’ll cherish because of it’s clarity and incredible color.

How Much Should I Expect To Pay?

I was looking for the best digital camera under $200. Well, the Canon PowerShot SD1300IS is available on the Canon website for $199.99 but you shouldn’t have to pay that much. The cheapest I’ve seen is on Amazon who consistently sells this digital camera for under $175.00.

What’s In the Box?

* PowerShot SD1300 IS Digital ELPH Body

* Lithium-ion Battery Pack NB-6L

* Battery Charger CB-2LY

* Wrist Strap WS-DC7

* Digital Camera Solution CD-ROM

* USB Interface Cable IFC-400PCU

* AV Cable AVC-DC400

Is There a Warranty?

Yes, the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS includes a 1 year warranty.

What Are Other People Saying?

This digital camera has received great reviews from most consumers on the internet with an average of 4.5 out of 5 from most reviewers on Amazon and the Canon website itself.

Here are some comments to date:

* Works great. Amazing photos, it is easy to use.

* I would recommend to anyone looking for a point and shoot camera with no fussing.

* What a camera!! The pics are beautiful and the options are amazing, this is definitely the best of non-touch screen, digital camera. The design is also nice and the size is perfect.

* If you need something that is user friendly and ready to go, then you want this camera.

* I love this camera! I’m a REALTOR and use the wide angle to capture views of properties and yards. Wonderful and compact.

* Easily fit into your pocket, well built/designed, and takes great pictures.

Any Complaints?

I found very few complaints on consumer sites around the internet. One woman did say the battery life might be shorter than you expect and her suggestion was to get a spare battery. Good advice for any camera.

Where Can I Buy the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS?

You can buy this Canon digital camera from Amazon. At the moment they include free shipping and from my research of comparing prices with other online merchants, Amazon does currently have the best deal especially when you consider the free shipping.

Digital Photography Made Easy

Filed under Digital Camera

Photography is an art. It takes practice, skill, and an eye for the unexpected. Not all people will take the time to study a landscape, wildlife, building, or other subject to find the hidden depth within, but when they do often they will find great meaning in the photo they take. Photographers spend their lives looking for new and different ways to shoot a subject. Digital photography is just one new way of taking a picture.

The first part of the digital photography tutorial will focus on the basic parts and terms you need to know before handling a digital camera. Proper handling of digital camera is the next important step in digital photography. This is because the success of a digital photographer depends on his output. And the key to achieve quality photos starts in the way you use and handle the digital camera.

Learning how a digital camera works, understanding the strategies in taking photos, and how to take indoor and outdoor pictures are all part of the things a beginner should learn. One of the most fundamental digital photography tips. You should be able to compose carefully by working on the frame. Play with your camera, and explore the different shots. Avoid positioning your object at the center of the photo, as it may result to dead center image.

Like with older photographer setting up your shot is half the fun. Determining the settings you need to use for light is the other. Setting up your shot still requires you to have an eye for the unusual or for making the unusual out of a common scene. Walk around the subject and look for every possible angle, you may even decide to take several photos to choose the best angle. This is where digital photography surpasses film cameras every time. Once you have looked at all angles and taken photos you get to see if the effect you wanted is there

Try creative shots. Take photos from the top of a hill, or off the side of a yacht. Go outside and explore your environment. You’ll surely have fun taking those once in a lifetime photo shots. Your learning doesn’t only focus on the practical part. You must not only learn through your experience. Learning from an expert would also help to improve your skills as a photographer. Try to join a photography class in your community, or if there are online classes you can log on. Becoming a professional digital photographer really takes time. You just have to be resourceful and keep on trying new techniques.

There are many different things to take into account when selecting a digital camera. But an informed decision is a wise decision. From personal experience I can tell you the D3100 from Nikon is a winner. To learn more about the D3100 click on one of those links.

Proper Lighting For Digital Photography

Filed under Digital Camera

Photography is art. Individuals will spend hours in museums and galleries analyzing a person’s photographs for the meaning. Like painting photographs have a message, sometimes it will evoke sadness, happiness, a carefree attitude, and thought. There are many techniques a budding photographer will learn to evoke the emotions they desire.

Experts in digital photography have come to realize that the digital camera is only one of the things you need to have great pictures. There are also other factors to consider so that you will not be disappointed by the result. One of them is the digital photography lighting. The secret to getting that perfect picture is to do it right the first time. By doing it right, it simply means that you need to think about how well or bad the lighting is in the process of taking the photo.

Next a photographer needs to understand the sun’s color scale. Pictures tend to lead the viewer towards certain feelings; often softer colors evoke more emotion. So understanding the suns impact on the colors will help you find the correct time of day. The sun evokes blue hues in the morning hours, while closer to noon you will find more neutral colors. When using natural light you will need to work with the angle and direction of the sunlight. If the sunlight is broad and diffused you will have softer shadows while the more narrow the light is focused the more shadow you can create.

You can also modify sunlight through certain techniques. Modifying sunlight when taking portraits outdoors requires the use of a background. You may wish for a breath taking landscape that will provide more composition to the photo. You may need to block the sun if it interferes with you or your subject’s sight. You might also bring in a white surface to fill the shadows. Landscape photography requires less work than usually natural light for portraits. In fact using natural sunlight for landscape photography without modifications can yield you a better photograph.

Shooting digital photos is not only about having the most advanced digital camera. It is also about looking for strategies and techniques that will benefit your shots. Try to shoot your photos with the perfect lighting and you will see that you do not need to edit or add some more colors in them.

There are many different things to take into account when selecting a digital camera. But an informed choice is a wise choice. From my own personal experience I can tell you the D3100 From my own Nikon is the best. To learn more about the D3100 click on one of those links.
